Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has urged Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members to prepare for what he called a state of emergency in the party, saying they must end their partnership under a broad-based agreement with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government by March 9, 2026.

Speaking at a fundraiser in Borabu on Friday, November 21, 2025, Amisi stressed that the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had a history of leaving government coalitions a year before elections, and that the 2027 polls would follow the same pattern.

Raila is not the first time he joins the government, he joins governments and leaves a year before the election, William Ruto can not be different. Raila alituambia tarehe March 9, 2026, ndio ni siku ya mwisho kuungana na serikali ya William Ruto, nawaambia watu wa ODM March 9, 2026, prepare for a state of emergency in the party to relieve you out of Ruto’s government,” Amisi said.

He warned that the party could not wait until 2027 to exit the government, citing failing systems and worsening conditions across the country under the leadership of the current president.

“That is the last time we are supposed to be with William Ruto, hatungoji 2027 na SHA inaharibika, wanafunzi wako nyumbani na vijana wanapigwa na risasi,” Amisi added.

Bold leadership

Amisi also emphasised that the country requires bold leadership to address national challenges, dismissing fear and complacency as obstacles to progress.

“We are not going to be in broad-based until 2027, when the education system is collapsing. This country can not be liberated by cowards; this country will be liberated by strong men and women who are fearless,” he said.

The MP’s remarks come as discussions around coalition politics and party alignments ahead of the 2027 general election gain momentum, with Amisi positioning himself and the younger generation as champions of decisive action and fearless leadership.

Speaking during the same event, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna called out broad-based hardliners with crafty agendas.

Hao ndugu zetu wako ODM ambao wanasema wanasupport hio kitu inaitwa broad-based, ni sawa support lakini msifikirie nyinyi ni wajanja sana,” he said, criticising what he described as covert alignment with Ruto’s strategies.
