Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai has called for the removal of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and other party officials at the next National Delegates Conference (NDC).

In a statement posted on his X account on Sunday, January 11, 2026, the outspoken MCA expressed dissatisfaction with the current party leadership, signalling the turbulence within ODM as it navigates its future following the death of party leader Raila Odinga.

“We must remove Sifuna and other fools at the NDC and during the day,” Alai stated in his brief but pointed message.

ODM NDC push

The MCA’s remarks come days after Migori County Senator Eddy Oketch urged ODM party leader Oburu Oginga to call the party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC).

Taking to his official Facebook page on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Oketch said the convention should be called to resolve the ongoing wrangles within the party.

“Party leader, please call the NDC. We sort this once and for all,” Senator Oketch stated, referring to Sifuna’s meeting with senior ODM members, including Siaya Governor James Orengo and former Attorney General Amos Wako, aimed at ending the internal disputes.

Ousting Sifuna

Aside from Alai, other ODM members have championed the expulsion of Sifuna from the party.

In a statement shared on his X account on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma urged ODM to strip Sifuna of his Senate leadership over what he terms as betrayal of the political outfit.

Kaluma compared Sifuna’s conduct with how the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) removed Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale from his Senate Majority Whip position after his conduct was deemed inappropriate during the November 2025 Malava by-election.

The legislator questioned why ODM would retain, in such a powerful position, an individual he labelled a “corrupt traitor” who, in his view, contributes nothing to the party’s agenda.

”UDA kicked Khalwale out of the Senate Leadership position when he took his jokes too far. What is ⁦ODM still doing with this corrupt traitor, who adds nothing to the party? Kick him out of the Senate Leader position he holds!” Kaluma said.
