Wetang’ula holds dialogue with World Bank, IMF over Kenya’s economic transformation
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, held a consultative dialogue with representatives of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the country’s economic transformation agenda.
The particular delegation was led by World Bank Group Division Director Qimiao Fan and joined by the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF Caucus, chaired by Wajir East Member of Parliament Mohamed Adan Daud at Parliament Buildings.

”Today, I held a consultative meeting with a delegation from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at Parliament Buildings to explore ways of strengthening collaboration in support of Kenya’s economic transformation agenda,” Wetangula took to X, confirming the deliberations.
National Assembly’s oversight
”I underscored the National Assembly’s critical oversight role on public expenditure and called for enhanced support to the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) to boost its capacity in auditing public institutions,” Speaker Wetang’ula’s statement added.

In his remarks on the unfolding, the National Assembly Speaker also recommended similar support to the offices of the Attorney-General, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Director of Public Prosecutions to reinforce the fight against corruption.
Moses Wetang’ula further reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to enacting laws that will expedite the resolution of corruption cases, and appreciated the continued partnership from the World Bank and IMF. This comes shortly after Kenya has reassured the World Bank of its commitment to economic reforms while calling for faster release of development funds as the country battles tight finances and public pressure over debt.
Mbadi meets World Bank Director

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, while meeting World Bank Managing Director for Operations Anne Bjerde in Nairobi on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, praised the Bank’s continued support and reiterated Kenya’s focus on rebuilding the economy through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
“The CS also sought the Bank’s support for the timely disbursement of DPO 7 resources once ongoing technical consultations are concluded,” the statement from Treasury reads in part.
