Treasury PS Kiptoo: Kenya’s economy stays strong amid global uncertainty
Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo has assured Kenyans that the country’s economy remains resilient despite a complex global economic environment.
Speaking after appearing to the appearance before the Budget and Appropriations Committee on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Kiptoo highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to maintain fiscal stability and implement critical reforms.

“Kenya continues to navigate a complex global environment, but our economy remains resilient, supported by stable inflation, easing interest rates, stronger external buffers, and ongoing reforms under the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” Kiptoo said.
The PS appeared before the committee, led by Samuel Atandi, to discuss the implementation of the FY 2025/26 Budget.
The session covered key areas, including revenue performance, expenditure pressures, and first-quarter budget execution.
Kiptoo also outlined measures underway to improve efficiency in public spending and accelerate reforms aimed at strengthening financial management systems.

“Our engagement covered revenue performance, expenditure pressures, first quarter budget execution, and the measures underway to strengthen fiscal stability, improve efficiency in public spending, and accelerate reforms such as e-procurement, the Treasury Single Account, and Zero-Based Budgeting,” Kiptoo explained.
He emphasised that Kenya is working closely with Parliament to ensure the country’s economic and budget priorities align with its broader development goals and the expectations of citizens.
“We are working closely with Parliament to ensure that our economic and budget priorities are firmly aligned with the country’s development goals and the expectations of the Kenyan people,” he added.

Kiptoo’s comments come amid growing concerns over global economic volatility and its potential impact on Kenya. By focusing on reforms such as e-procurement and zero-based budgeting, the government aims to ensure public funds are used efficiently while promoting transparency and accountability.
