In a customer-centric response that has sparked conversations among Safaricom users, the telecommunications giant has clearly outlined the simple steps to claim its popular Birthday Bundle offer.

Safaricom PLC replied to a query from customer @Pau_mwasjnr, who posted on X on Saturday, April 4, 2026, asking why he had not received any surprise bundle on his birthday.

Customer query prompts response

The telco directed him with a straightforward instruction: “Happy Birthday! tafadhali bonYeza *54419#ok kupata birthday bundles.”

Safaricom then issued a polite request to dial the USSD code *54419# followed by ‘OK’ to access the birthday bundles.

Safaricom’s Birthday Bundle is part of its long-standing anniversary and birthday service, designed to reward loyal PrePay, Hybrid, and PostPay subscribers.

Eligible customers typically receive a complimentary 1GB data bundle on their special day, along with heavily discounted voice calls at just Ksh1 per minute across all networks for the entire day until midnight.

The 1GB data is usually valid for a short window, often three hours, from the time of redemption, encouraging users to enjoy it promptly for browsing, social media, or staying connected with loved ones.

Steps to redeem the bundle

To redeem the offer, users simply need to ensure their Safaricom line is active and they have registered their correct date of birth with the network.

On their birthday, customers can dial *54419# and press OK, then follow the on-screen prompts to confirm eligibility and claim the bundle. Once awarded, the 1GB data and Ksh 1/minute calling rate become available for use.

The system automatically identifies eligible subscribers based on their registered birthday details. However, the notification or automatic credit may sometimes fail to trigger, prompting customers to dial the code manually.

In such instances, Safaricom’s customer care team often requests additional verification details like phone number, name, ID number, and year of birth to assist further.

Customer loyalty initiative

This gesture is part of Safaricom’s broader loyalty initiatives to improve the customer experience in a competitive telecom market.

The offer is not available while roaming, and terms may be updated occasionally, so users are advised to check the official Safaricom website or app for the latest details.

Safaricom continues to remind users that while the system tries to identify and notify eligible subscribers automatically, proactive redemption ensures no one misses out on this thoughtful perk.
