Amani National Congress  (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi yesterday dismissed reports that he was contemplating quitting Kenya Kwanza Alliance and mainatined that he was in the outfit to stay.

Reacting to rumours that he had ditched the alliance, Mudavadi said his stay in the alliance is by right and not forced, noting that he is a  founder member of the alliance and is therefore going nowhere.

He termed the claims as propaganda perpetuated by the alliance’s competitors who are keen to try to divide the Kenya Kwanza after sensing defeat.

“I have been out of the country for the last few days, having travelled to the United States of America on behalf of the alliance. I have heard some people say that the Kenya Kwanza team is starting to disintegrate. I want them to know that the Hustler team is united and we remain united for a better economy,” he said.

Empty talk

At the same-time, the Kenya kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto  told off Azimio-One Kenya Coalition describing their pledge to fight corruption as empty talk.

He said it was hypocritical for his opponents to claim a lack of commitment on his part to condemn runaway impunity, yet the Azimio coalition is allegedly full of people whose moral integrity is in question.

“You are lecturing me about corruption, yet your campaign is funded by Covid billionaires. You in Azimio operate huge laundry to cleanse and sanitise people who have stolen from the government,” Ruto charged

He denied claims that his camp lacks a clear framework on how they will fight corruption in the country if elected into office. “What moral authority do you have to give us lectures on corruption when the whole of your campaign is funded by corruption?” he posed.

The alliance also rallied city residents to vote for Kenya Kwanza candidates saying that they were best fitted to lead Nairobi.

In particular, Ruto urged city residents to vote for Senator Johnson Sakaja ass their next governor, dismissing the Azimio candidate as a project that has been put in the race to defend city cartels.

“There is no person who understands Nairobi better than Sakaja. Igathe doesn’t understand anything that will make this city great again. With Sakaja at the helm, water and sanitation problems will be addressed,” said Ruto.

While touring Gikomba market, Ruto also waded into the second-hand clothes debate vowing to ensure the business is protected if elected.

 Given priority

Ruto said using the Bottom-Up economic model, his government will elevate the mitumba business as well as small scale business people through provision of resources.

He said Mitumba people will be given priority by Kenya Kwanza when through revival of the textile industry.
