August 9 polls: Azimio to hold last rally at Kasarani Stadium
Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya Coalition is set to hold its last rally at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday, August 6, 2022, barely two days to the election day.
According to the coalition’s itinerary seen by People Daily Digital, the Azimio team will campaign in Eldoret and Coast region next week, before the final rally in Nairobi in Nairobi.
The coalition, through its Secretary General Junet Mohamed, had said they would use Nyayo Stadium to hold their last rally.
At the same time, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) also claimed the same venue for their use on the same day.
Azimio, UDA barred from using Nyayo Stadium

However, Sports Kenya in a letter to UDA on July 21, said Nyayo and Kasarani stadia had been booked for a three-day prayer rally.
“We regret to inform you that due to peace concerts scheduled to take place at both Moi International Sports Centre-Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between 5th to 7th, the facility will not be available for your use,” Pius Metto, the Sports Kenya Director General, said in the letter.
UDA has since threatened to take Sports Kenya to court over the matter.
In the letter seen by People Daily Digital, UDA demanded that Sports Kenya recalls the cancellation notice that was sent to the party.
“Take note that our instructions are to demand, which we hereby do, the immediate withdrawal or revocation or cancellation of the illegal letter by yourself dated July 20,” the letter read in part.
It is now unclear where Kenya Kwanza will hold its last rally.
