Kitui governor admitted at city hospital with Covid-19
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu yesterday became the latest top public official to test positive for coronavirus.
Family sources said she has been in isolation since Sunday.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua broke the news yesterday that the county chief is admitted at the Nairobi Hospital and was responding well to treatment “and might be discharged soon”.
“Let us pray for our sister Ngilu. She was not able to come here today because she is sick with Covid.
She asked me to inform you that she is unwell and has been admitted at the Nairobi Hospital.
Members of the public must strictly observe the safety measures put in place by the government to keep the virus at bay as the disease is fatal,” he said during a visit in Murang’a where media mogul Dr SK Macharia hosted Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga.
The governor joins a list of high profile government officials and politicians who have been admitted or forced to go into quarantine after getting infected.
In March, Raila was admitted at Nairobi Hospital after contracting the respiratory disease while in November and December last year Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga were separately admitted in hospital for 15 days because of the virus.
