Magoha promises to build another school at Ng’ando, Dagoretti
The government has promised to build another school at Ng’ando, Dagoretti, close to where Precious Talents Top School classroom collapsed on Monday leaving seven pupils dead and 64 others injured.
While issuing a directive at the tragedy scene, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha did not however, state the timelines for building the new school.
Magoha further said a taskforce with a team members drawn from different government agencies will be formed to spearhead probe into what caused the classroom to collapse.
It has since emerged that the facility had over 800 learners and the closest government primary school is over two kilometers away.
The promise by Magoha to build another school within the community came amid queries on how such a densely populated area was served by only one public school.
It also emerged that the learners were already settled in their respective classes as early as 6:45am, which is in contrary to the Ministry of Education guideline on school reporting time.
