Estranged wife of businessman Brian Yongo has now accused the ex-husband of using the children’s court to frustrate her bid to travel outside the country.

Ann Wahito Wambui has sued Milimani Children’s Senior Resident Magistrate  and Brian Yongo over the  order which prevents her from leaving the country saying it costed her a job opportunity in Kuwait.

According to Wambui, she attempted to leave the court on August 22 to take up a job in Kuwait but the immigration officials refused to let her board the plane saying they had a court order restraining her from leaving the country.

“The order was obtained by Bryan Yongo  a man who I am not married to although we had a relationship  from which a minor who is a subject matter in the children’s court was born,” she said in court documents.

Wambui says she left Yongo because of violence he inflicted on her claiming that she was once admitted at Agakhan.

“I was attended to at the said hospital after having been assaulted by my so called husband .He would beat me and then if I was seriously hurt he would take me to the hospital,” she stated in an affidavit.

“There are many other assault and physical beating which were not documented and I therefore feared I would be killed so I left his house on January 2016 as I knew I was pregnant and may not survive any further beating,” she added.

She says at one time, she went to Yongo’s residence in August 2016 with the child to collect money for maintenance and upkeep but he beat her throwing her to the ground and stepping on her back.

“I was then admitted to Nairobi Hospital for five days. I suffered a miscarriage and bled so much that I had to be given blood transfusion,” she said in court documents.She says Yongo assaulted her recently on July 13 when she had gone to collect maintenance at Club B restaurant.

“He did not give me the money he had promised  …we left the club together in a taxi and in the taxi he head-butted and scratched me in the presence of Uber driver who then drove me to Muthangari police station where I reported the incidence,” she said in affidavit.

According to her, Yongo was annoyed by her departure and fabricated that she wanted to leave the country and thereafter applied and obtained the said order on February 20, 2017.

Wambui claims that after her attempt to travel, police officers from Kileleshwa Police station came to her mother’s house where she lives and attempted to arrest her.

She accuses Yongo of harassing her by having her followed whenever she leaves the house by strange men.

She wants the court to quash the said order barring her from leaving the country and her passport which was confiscated by the Immigration department be returned to her.
