Azimio La Umoja now claims that the state-hired goons infiltrated the anti-government protests organised by Gen Z to spoil the good intentions of the youth who were out to voice their displeasure against the government.

“Brutal and disenchantment-sponsored goons infiltrated with the sole intention of destabilizing the continued peaceful protests. These disgraceful and criminal activities violate the right to peaceful protests as provided for under article 37 of the Constitution of Keya 2010,” said Azimio principal Kalonzo Musyoka at a press conference yesterday.

Kalonzo alleged that the destruction witnessed during Tuesday’s protests was premeditated and the looting was deliberate.

“We have observed that the intention of yesterday’s well-organised coordinated and state-sponsored chaos was to undermine and denigrate the Gen Z inspired nationwide, non-violent protests. The looting was intentional. The destruction was planned,” Kalonzo added.

Broad daylight

Massive destruction of public and private property worth billions of shillings was observed amid the protests in broad daylight in Nairobi and other upcountry towns.

Azimio said that the torching of the property was carried out by hired goons in collaboration with corrupted security forces as helpless onlookers watched.

“The torching of public and private property worth billions of shillings was carried out in collaboration with the already corrupted security forces in the full glare of the media and indeed international media as well as onlookers,” continued the Wiper party leader.
