The High Court in Eldoret has cancelled bond for a man who absconded court proceedings in a murder trial.

The suspect, Silas Too is on trial for his link to the killing of President William Ruto’s Press Secretary Emmanuel Tallam’s father nearly seven years ago.

Too went underground for almost one year and switched off his mobile phone making it difficult for the police detectives to effect warrant for his arrest as ordered by the court.

His action forced the court to put on hold the murder trial for the entire of last year as officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) heightened their search for him to face the law.

Acting on tip off from members of the public, the armed officers managed to arrest the suspect from his hide-out in the leading tea growing Nandi Hill region two weeks ago.

The suspect was then driven to Nandi Hills police station where he was held in custody before being presented in court yesterday.

Justice Robert Wananda ordered that Too be remanded at the Eldoret GK remand prison pending hearing and determination of the case.

In his ruling, the Judge stated that since the suspect who is represented by lawyer Lucy Ndambuki had proved to be a fly risk, the court had no choice but to cancel his bond.

“I have cancelled with immediate effect the Sh200,000 bond that the court had granted you and direct that you be remanded at the Eldoret GK remand prison pending hearing and determination of the murder case facing you, “Justice Wananda ruled.

The accused person is jointly charged with his mother Dorcas Chelagat and Hillary Korir over the murder of Nandi Hills businessman Benjamin Koech, 85.

They committed the said offence on April 14, 2018 at Cheptingting village in Nandi Hills, Nandi county.
Each of the suspects denied the charge.

Tallam’s father went missing nearly seven years ago only for his body to be found floating in a river in Nandi Hills two days later.
