Red-carded Onyango shines as Sofapaka, Muhoroni Youth share spoils
Jacob Onyango was the shining star as Sofapaka and Muhoroni Youth shared points following a 2-2 Football Kenya Federation Premier League match in Machakos.
After getting his name twice on the scoresheet, the in-form forward was later sent off, ending his afternoon in an unwanted fashion.
Youth, who had failed to win in their last four matches, grabbed the lead when Alex Onchwari scored. The chance to find the back of the net came when Sofapaka’s defensive unit and the goalkeeper failed to communicate well handing the visitors a chance to strike first.
Batoto ba Mungu looked disjointed and did not threaten much, with the visitors managing a few attacks after taking the lead. No other goal was scored before the break.
Sofapaka equalised when Onyango scored his first goal in the game, with Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno’s men looking more lively than they were in the opening half.
Onyango was set through on goal by Darius Msagha who slotted home as he earned another goal of the season.
The youngster scored another 10 minutes after his first, and this time around, it was Humphrey Mieno who provided the assist.
Youth fought back and scored the equaliser in the 68th minute when Jackson Green put the ball past Sofapaka’s goalkeeper, Victor Augo.
There was late drama when Onyango was sent off, as was Clinton Bulimo of Muhoroni Youth.
