Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi now upholds that he will not succumb to ‘blackmail’ from cartels who he said have set their sights on siphoning county resources, mostly grabbing of public land in the county.

Wamatangi who has been embroiled in a row with MCAs and a section of MPs insisted that he will remain firm in protecting county resources.

Speaking at PCEA Kimbo in Kiuu ward, Ruiru sub-county during a thanksgiving service for area MCA Zachary Macharia, Wamatangi maintained he would follow president William Ruto’s footsteps of fighting thieves whom he said have no place in the county.

He revealed that hundreds of acres of county public land had been grabbed, and in most areas, there are no parcels remaining to put up public utilities, but assured that his administration was working towards reclaiming them.

The county boss said the land barons, among them current and past leaders in the county, had resorted to using a section of sitting MPs and MCAs to cause unnecessary squabbles by spreading falsehoods, hoping that he could succumb to the pressure and allow them to loot.
