Gachagua vows to continue with one term movement despite threats

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) party leader Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to continue with the one-term movement despite facing threats from the government.
Speaking on Monday, May 19, 2025, during a press conference at his Karen home, the former deputy president claimed that his newly launched DCP party has organic support and that they do not pay supporters to attend their meetings.
He argued that the planners of violence that has been meted out on him in the past during his various events will not stop the cause of the people.
Gachagua further stated that the plan to popularise his party will not be slowed down by the threats he has been facing.
“Let it be known that our party, DCP, has organic support, and we do not pay our supporters to attend our meetings the way the government is doing to people to attend their meetings. Finally, let me assure the planners of this violence that you will not stop the cause of the people of Kenya; the one-term movement and the DCP party’s popularity will not be stopped and will not slow down,” Gachagua said.
He went ahead to warn the government that wasting time and resources to try and stop him is a zero-sum game.
Gachagua’s mission
Moreover, Gachagua pointed out that he is on a mission to ensure that lies stop, roads get built, corruption is stopped, abductions and extrajudicial killings are brought to an end, and that education and health systems work.
“The cause to liberate Kenya is not about Rigathi Gachagua; wasting time and resources to stop me is a zero-sum game; the people of the Republic of Kenya have said that lies must stop, roads must be built, corruption must stop, and abductions and extrajudicial killings must stop; education and health systems must work; these are some of the things that are making the people of Kenya restless,” he said.
“We are putting our supporters on high alert that they have a right to express their frustrations if injustice is meted on us. My supporters and I will not be cowed nor intimidated by the use of the criminal justice system to manage politics.”
