Former World Indoor winner Collins Kipruto is predicting a successful outing at the 2022 World Indoor Championships set for March 18-20 this year in Belgrade, Serbia.

The 800m specialist was on Monday named in Team Kenya that also has Africa’s 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala. Omanyala will be competing in the 60m event in his debut appearance at the Championships.

Kipruto, who was in action during the recently ended indoor competition will be joined by World Under-20 800m bronze medallist Noah Kibet in the two lap race.

“I have had the honour to compete at the indoor games so I know what to expect,”Kipruto who on February 14 this year broke broke the 800m course record at the Meeting de l’Eure in Val-de-Reuil, France told People Sport.

He added: “I feel great to have been named in the team, I have been training specifically for the Games because I had already qualified and now now feel ripe for the World Indoor Championship.”

The team of 10 athletes also has 2018 World Under-20 5,000m champion Beatrice Chebet will compete in the women’s 3,000m. Chebet will team up with Edinah Jebitok, who will also double up in the 1,500m.

World Relay 2x2x400m silver medalist Naomi Korir makes the women’s 800m team alongside Eglay Nalianya.
