World marathon record holder Kipchoge eyes glory in Boston race
World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge (pictured) is buoyed ahead of his debut in the fast-approaching Boston Marathon where he is eyeing a podium finish.
The two-time Olympic champion said he is ready for the grueling race in Boston.
Kipchoge who has since confirmed for next year’s race slated for April 17, 2023, said he plans to win the race but made it clear a course record will come in handy.
“I want to win the race that’s my main focus but if I win with a course record I will be happy. I know it will be the toughest race and the best man win,” Kipchoge said.
Kipchoge is set to battle it out with defending champion Evans Chebet and previous winners Benson Kipruto (2021) and Lelisa Desisa (2013, 2015)
The 38-year-old will be hoping his recent record-breaking heroics in Berlin will help him in his quest to seek a record 11th World Marathon majors title.
Kipchoge lowered his mark by half a minute just over two months ago in Berlin. While at the same time eyeing attacking the course record of 2:03:02 set by compatriot Geoffrey Mutai in 2011.
