Both men and women Ulinzi handball teams continued to cause ripples in the National Handball League with the duo leading the respective logs.

The women’s side Ulinzi Sharks were in imperious form after a 46-08 demolition of  Mountain Queens in a one sided clash played Sunday at the Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium courts. The match which ended 21-05 at the break courtesy of Sharks, had the dangerous Sarah Wasike score 10 field goals with the opponents always caught napping during attacks.

Sharks not only attacked as a unit but also shut out any danger effectively rendering Queens a shell. Sharon Mulei was also vibrant with the ball as she weighed in with seven goals as the duo of Caren Lutengeya and Mercy Chepkirui came through with five goals apiece. The Ulinzi side are on 38 points at the apex of the table following 20 games with an incredible 451 goal difference.

In another women’s league encounter, third placed National Cereals & Produce Board (NCPB) spanked Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT) 44-14 at the same venue. Naomi Muyoka notched 14 while Joan Akinyi had 12 as they led the charge against the University side who seemed to have little answers for the opponents’ combative and attacking style. NCPB who are now on 32 points with two matches in hand, are still very much in line for a Playoffs spot with the regular season drawing to a close.

Meanwhile, second placed Nairobi Water also had a good weekend following their 43-10 drubbing of JKUAT WITH Gladys Chilo hitting 10 goals. The first half break ended with a 22-04 lead as the hosts proved who was Boss.Other big scorers in the duel included  Merina Andala on six with the duo of Cecilia Katheui and  Brenda Musambai on five apiece.

In the Men’s draw,Ulinzi clawed Black Mamba 30-19 in an entertaining duel on Saturday. Ulinzi men who lead the standings with 41 points, have lost only once this season in 21 games and have the advantage of a match in hand over immediate rivals General Service Unit (GSU).In this particular game that saw Ulinzi take a 17-07 lead,Kevin Imo  led the charts with eight goals supported by the pair of Gideon Kiprotich and Nicholas Ireri on five apiece.

Another good gamne in the men’s side saw Buccaneers battle hard toi win 44-38 over UInspoired in a high scoring match. Both sides enjoyed attacking spells with Mike Orimi of  Bucs leading the charge with 12 goals followed closely by Inspired’s Augustine Kimsi on 11.
