Kenyan midfielder Sven Yidah parts ways with Marumo Gallants

Kenyan midfielder Sven Yidah has officially parted ways with South African club Marumo Gallants after spending one season with the team.
Yidah expressed his gratitude to the Marumo Gallants family and bid them farewell, while also extending his best wishes for the upcoming season.

The confirmation of his departure comes two weeks after reports emerged the club that they would be releasing several players as they prepare for the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
“Thank you Marumo gallants family for being my home for the past year. As our time together comes to an end, I appreciate everything and wish you all the best next season,” he said in a statement.

Marumo Gallants faced relegation from the DStv Premiership in May 2023 after a 2-0 defeat against Swallows.
In a statement released by the club on Friday 30 June, it was confirmed that players and members whose contracts had expired had been cleared to leave.
Among the players confirmed to have left the club are Ranga Chivaviro, who has moved to Kaizer Chiefs, Katlego Otladisa (Orlando Pirates F.C.), Ismael Toure (Stellenbosch F.C.), and Lesiba Nku (Mamelodi Sundowns F.C.).
“Today marks the end of an exciting and eventful football season. Marumo Gallants Football Club has celebrated fantastic successes as well as some very disappointing losses along the way.
“As the football season draws to a close, Gallants would like to take the opportunity to thank the players, technical team, supporters, sponsors, the media and partners who have rallied behind Bahlabane ba Ntwa.,” the statement confirmed.
Despite the changes, Marumo Gallants remains optimistic about the future and assured their fans that they would initiate a recruitment process to fill the gaps left by the departing players.
Chairman Abram Sello extended his well wishes to the exiting players and technical staff, thanking them for their commitment and service.
“We wish all exiting players and technical staff all the best for the future. We thank you for your commitment and service throughout the season.
“Regardless of the league we compete in, we retain our passion for football and our drive,” he concluded.

Yidah joined Marumo Gallants in August 2022 after a successful training stint with the team.
The midfielder’s career began at Ligi Ndogo S.C. Academy before joining FC Kariobangi Sharks in January 2016.

He extended his contract with Kariobangi Sharks for three more years until the end of the 2021 season. In September 2020, Yidah made a move to Nairobi City Stars on a two-year deal before joining Marumo Gallants.
Throughout his career, Yidah has achieved notable milestones, including winning the National Super League with Kariobangi Sharks in 2016 and securing the GOTV Shield two years later.
He was also part of the squad that clinched the Kenyan Super Cup at the beginning of the 2018/2019 season and lifted the Sportpesa Cup with Sharks in 2019, earning an opportunity to face Everton in an exhibition match
He gained recognition for his unique penalty celebrations against Mbao FC in the 2019 Sportpesa Super Cup, which became a sensation worldwide.
He repeated the celebration after scoring a penalty against Everton in the Sportpesa exhibition match.
