Strathmore University and Kenya Ports Authority were victors on Sunday during the return of the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) league after a break due to the just ended General-Election.

Strathmore under the tutelage of coach Tonny Ochieng beat Blazers 69-45 in what was a show of might for the University side.

Jackson Waweru registered 10 points,Trevor Anyango eight points and Jackson Chukwuemeka had 10 points as the team ran the court effectively. On the opposite end, Blazers key men were Hillary Kuidai on 12 points alongside Romauld Kabete on eight points.

Strathmore led 21-14 in the first Quarter and at the break took a 37-18.Team fouls for Blazers cost them a great deal as they allowed the opponents to play in their territory.

Gabriel Onyango was also a moving danger for Strathmore as well with eight points and three rebounds to his name. In another match played at Nyayo Gymnasium,defending Champions Kenya Ports Authority Dockers left it all on the floor after trouncing Equity Dumas 80-68 in a thriller of the big boys.

Both sides had their moments with the ball with KPA exerting the most pressure through the likes of Victor Odendo and shooting guard Ken Wachira as Dumas struggled to cope. Eugene Agera had 18 points with close support from Job Byron and John Wilmes who kept the threats of Dumas at bay.Alex Onguso of Dumas and James Mwangi combined for 24 points in what was a fairly fiery batt;le on court with lots of technical fouls called by the officials.

In another duel,NIBS saw off Nebulas 81-63 with Abdul Abdulqudus on 16 points as the College team ran the opposing side rugged with quick tempo basketball. Brandon Njagi weighed in with 14 points as Nebulas was only allowed into a first quarter lead of sli m26-25 and third quarter lead of a slim 12-11 on the board.Nebulas main scorer was Paul Okello on 14 points assuisted closely by Fred Samba on 10 points.
