Sofapaka managed a morale-boosting result following their 1-0 win over Kenya Police in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played in Machakos on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Sofapaka have been in poor form and were at the bottom of the table before the match against Police, but a win saw them go level with AFC Leopards on points.

Meanwhile, Khalid Jumaan scored the vital goal for Batoto ba Mungu in the early stages of the game. A combination that involved Humphrey Mieno, Fiston Razak, and Jumaan saw the home side grab the lead.

The result is a good start for head coach Ezekiel Akwana, who was recently appointed to replace Francis Harigingo at the 2009 Premier League champions. On the other hand, Police suffered their first loss under Zdravko Logarusic, who was recently brought on to replace Francis Baraza.

KCB, Ulinzi Stars draw

Meanwhile, KCB and Ulinzi Stars shared spoils following a 1-1 draw at Kasarani Stadium.

Mark Bikokwa almost broke the deadlock in favour of the away side when he blocked a strike launched by KCB in the 10th minute.

There was a chance for the Bankers to grab the lead in the 15th minute, but resolute defensive work by Bonaventure Muchika saw the danger thwarted.

Bikokwa, who was named man of the match for his impressive show, came close to breaking the deadlock when the second half started, but his effort went out by inches.

KCB kept fighting despite immense pressure from the soldiers, and in the 59th minute, they almost claimed the lead, but Francis Kahiro’s left-footed shot was stopped by Stephen Ochieng in the Ulinzi Stars goal.

The Bankers failed to break the deadlock in the 74th minute after Stephen Etyang and Apollo Otieno combined well before the former fired wide.

Bikokwa was frustrated again in the 77th minute when he saw his goal-bound shot parried away by KCB’s experienced goalkeeper, Gabriel Andika.

Finally, Bikokwa managed to find the back of the net in the 84th minute when he fired past Andika, with Shannel Makwata creating the assist.

Ulinzi Stars were headed for a win, but KCB fought back and scored a late goal that saw the game end in a draw. Herit Mungai was the scorer of the important goal that saw both sides share spoils in Kasarani.
