Shanzu Teachers College readies to host National School Games

In less than a week to go to the 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Games, the stage is set at the Shanzu Teachers Training College in Mombasa County ahead of the action scheduled ton start on April 5, to April 13.
Following a thrilling regional competition, top schools from across the country have secured their places in various sports, including rugby, hockey, basketball, handball and Athletics. These schools will now battle for national Crown, with the best teams aiming for a slot at the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games in August to be held in Nakuru, stakes are high at all levels of competition.
St Joseph Girls high school handball team from Kitale proved their mettle by overcoming stiff competition to earn their spot at the national after missing it last year in the hands of Murinduko. With their resounding 32-12 against St Benedict Kipsamoite of Nandi are now poised to be put to the ultimate test as to whether they can go all the way and dethrone the best school handball teams in the country.
Coach and teacher Edwin Adamba noted that they are in a tougher pool, but their aim is to be on the top of the pool.
“We know the pool is tough Moi Forces from Mombasa are good ball players, Kadika from Nyanza is a physical side and Kiribari from Thika are new entrants but have a good coach who knows the technical aspects of handball quite clearly, we will not underestimate any team in the competition but invokes God’s will as we target to top the pool.” Said Adamba.
Handball girls Pool A includes North Eastern, Moi Girls Kamusinga (Western), Kyeni Girls (Eastern), and Dagoretti Mixed (Nairobi). Pool B features Thika Girls Karibaribi (Central), Kadika (Nyanza), St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale (Rift Valley), and Moi Forces Academy Mombasa (Coast).
They are the favourite with the organized play but With all teams preparing intensively and depth of talents in both Pools they will need to be at their best to take the national title to book a slot to the East Africa games.
