The Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) has unveiled the list of triumphant schools in respective team events that head into the East African games after the conclusion of the national competitions on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

The list includes newcomers who announced their names at the national stage to join several established individuals in various disciplines. Among the newcomers to the fold is Central Kinale Girls, who served up a stunning upset in the girls’ seven rugby, edging out St. Joseph’s Girls (JOGA) of Rift Valley to lift the national girls title.

Kinale Girls

The school located in Lari Sub County, Kiambu County, joined St. Peter’s Mumias, who clinched the National Sevens Title after a decade with a comeback 14-12 win over Koyonzo Boys in a tense final clash at Kakamega Bullring.

On the football scene, St Joseph’s Boys, who edged Musingu High School in a dramatic final at the Mumias Sports Complex, will be the new favourites for the football games alongside the Scorpions, who emerged as the runners-up.

The two will be joined by Nairobi representatives Highway School and Agai Mixed School from Nyanza, who emerged as fourth.

Kwanthanze, Cheptil dominate

In volleyball, Kwanthanze Girls will carry the country’s hopes in the regional games for another year running after defending the national volleyball title with a 3-0 set victory over East Africa Champs Kesogon.

Cheptil High from RiftV alley carried the national champions in the boys category after beating Malava by three sets.

The four will be joined by Mwalupamba (Coast) and Gogo (Nyanza) in the boys category, as Bishop Sulumeti from the Western region and Soweto from the Nairobi region also earned their place at the East Africa games.

The East Africa Games are set to kick off on Wednesday, August 12, 2025, in Kakamega.
