Shabana’s Pamzo beats strong field to scoop weekly award
New Shabana tactician Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has been named the fans’ coach of the week.
This follows a resounding 5-2 victory they registered against Nzoia Sugar during the weekend’s Football Kenya Federation Premier League duel.
It was Pamzo’s first match in charge since he was given the reigns at the struggling National Super League side.
The former Gor Mahia tactician managed to see off Nicholas Muyoti of Nairobi City Stars, Robert Matano of Tusker, and Ken Kenyatta of FC Talanta. All the nominated coaches led their sides to wins in the matches for week 18, but it was Pamzo, a former Harambee Star, who was finally selected as the coach of the week.
Shabana dominate
Shabana also dominated in the other two elective categories: team of the week and player of the week.
Tusker, City Stars, and Talanta had been nominated as the club of the week following impressive performances, but it was Tore Bobe, 16th on the log, who were nominated as the winner in that category.
Justine Omwando, a hattrick hero in the big win against Nzoia Sugar at the Raila Odinga Stadium, was named the fans’ player of the week. He saw off Tusker’s left-back Levin Joseph, City Stars’ forward Mohamed Bajaber, and Joseph Ochuka of Bandari.
All the fan Player of the Week contestants made it to the Premier League team of the week and were also named men of their respective matches.
Meanwhile, Shabana’s secretary general, Elizaphan Kerama, has assured fans of their security during their home matches in Homa Bay.
“We have talked to all security stakeholders, and they have assured us of heightened security to allow our fans to have a memorable experience.
“We encourage our fans to turn up in large numbers and support the boys as they take on Ulinzi Stars FC on Saturday in Raila Odinga Stadium Homabay,” the club official said, as quoted by the club’s social media pages.
Tore Bobe will play Ulinzi Stars on February 20.
