SHA announces changes to processing of Level 4 hospital claims
A statement signed by Dr Mercy Mwangangi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Social Health Authority, has confirmed the migration of claims processing for Level 4 public healthcare facilities from the SHA Provider Portal to the Taifa Care Health Management Information System (HMIS).
The statement, dated Monday, June 30, 2026, notified all Level 4 public healthcare facilities that the transition had taken effect from midnight on Sunday, June 29, 2026.
“The Social Health Authority (SHA) wishes to notify all Level 4 public healthcare facilities that, following the successful completion of system testing and approval by the Social Health Authority and the Digital Health Agency (DHA), all claims processing services will transition from the SHA Provider Portal to the Taifa Care Health Management Information System (HMIS),” the statement read.

New claims to use Taifa Care
SHA said all new claims by Level 4 public healthcare facilities must now be submitted through the Taifa Care HMIS.
“This transition took effect from midnight on 29th June 2026,” SHA stated.
The authority further assured healthcare providers that claims already filed through the previous portal would not be affected by the transition.
“All claims that were submitted through the SHA Provider Portal before the transition will remain securely in the system and will continue to be processed without interruption,” the statement added.
SHA also directed facilities to stop using the old provider portal for new submissions.
“Healthcare facilities are advised to submit all new claims through the Taifa Care HMIS from the effective date and time,” SHA said.

SHA announces support
To support the shift, SHA said it had partnered with the Digital Health Agency to provide round-the-clock technical assistance to affected facilities.
“To ensure a smooth transition, the SHA and DHA will provide 24/7 technical support through the following channels: Toll-Free Helpline: 147. Email: [email protected],” the statement read.
SHA said the migration is part of efforts to strengthen digital health systems and improve service delivery amid cases of glitches.
“The Social Health Authority appreciates the cooperation of all healthcare providers as we continue to strengthen Kenya’s digital health ecosystem and enhance efficient, secure, and seamless healthcare service delivery,” the statement concluded.
