Shabana unveils new signings as KPL side falls to Pamba Jiji at Gusii Stadium
By Joel Masibo, September 8, 2025Football Kenya Federation Premier League outfit Shabana FC have unveiled their new signings ahead of the new campaign set to kick off on Saturday, September 20, 2025, across different venues in the country.
Tore Bobe paraded their new acquisitions for the first time to the joy of home supporters at the Gusii Stadium on Sunday, September 7, 2025, as the club also marked their special day dubbed Shabana Day.
The culmination of Shabana Day was an international friendly match between the Kenyan Premier League side and Pamba Jiji from Tanzania at the fully packed Gusii Stadium in Kisii Town. However, despite enjoying support from the home crowd, it was not the day for Tore Bobe as Pamba Jiji FC won the Shabana Day Cup after edging out the hosts in penalty shootouts after the match ended 2-2 in regulation time, before Francis Baraza’s men triumphed 6-5.
Speaking earlier, Shabana’s Secretary General, Elizaphan Kerama, confirmed that the club has signed 14 new players as the team gears up to challenge for the FKF Premier League title this season. Kerama, the club’s administration’s goal is to make Shabana a famous team not only in the country but in the whole of Africa. At the same time, Kerama confirmed that the team has released 18 players from the last season.
“As we all know, there is only one Shabana in the whole world; we want to confirm to the world that this is true. We welcome you all for a fun day filled with activities at the Gussi Stadium this Sunday,” Kerama said in the Wednesday, September 3, 2025 statement.
Shabana’s new signings
The new players unveiled on Shabana Day include former Gor Mahia player Caleb Omondi, ex-Kisumu All Stars keeper David Obasanjo, Victor Omondi, Kevin Musamali and Byron Otieno — formerly of Kariobangi Sharks — Wycliffe Omondi, David Odoyo, Derrick Otieno, Kiprono Dunson, national under 20 player Humphrey Obino, Brian Olega, Nsumbuga Bronson and Enock Otieno.
Two weeks ago, Shabana FC travelled to Uganda, where they played a series of friendly matches. Alongside AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, Shabana FC boasts a rich history as one of the top three most influential community clubs in the history of Kenyan football at the club level.
