The outbound moves of players from the relegated outfit Nairobi City Stars have continued, with Shabana FC the latest to raid the Kawangware-based club.

Tore Bobe has on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, confirmed the acquisition of the defender Wycliffe Omondi ahead of the 2025/26 season.

“The latest addition to our central defence has arrived. Wycliffe Awiko Omondi joins us from City Stars FC,” the club confirmed.

Owino has been a key cog in City Stars under coach Salim Babu, but could do little to help the club as their season came up short following relegation from the Football Kenya Premier League alongside FC Talanta in May.

Migori Youth

In the season, the defender, who can also fill in the defensive midfield role, featured prominently for the Simba wa Nairobi outfit.

To commemorate his towering performances, City Stars, in March 2025, acknowledged his solid presence in the team’s rearguard upon his 50-game milestone.

“50 games, countless memories! Congrats to the unstoppable Wycliffe Omondi for hitting this milestone with Nairobi City Stars,” the club posted on March 12.

The defender joined City Stars from NSL side Migori Youth FC in August 2023 and went on to etch his name in the team in only his debut season in the top flight.

In addition to Omondi, the Glamour Boys have also signed highly rated midfielder Biron Otieno from Kariobangi Sharks.

Otieno, who reunites with his former Sharks midfield lynchpin, Keith Imbali, spoke on relishing the chance to feature alongside the Harambee Stars ace.

“Keith is a brother to me, and I’m grateful for another opportunity to play alongside him and be champions again,” he added.

The swashbuckling midfielder says his move was prompted by the love he has for the club.

Love for Shabana

“I am glad for the opportunity to join this club. I feel like a champion. I’m ready to be a champion again,” he stated. “What made me come to this club is the love I have for this team and how its fans push the team. I also love the players here, like Keith and Masai, among others,” he stated.

Following his impressive midfield performance in the 2025 season with Kariobangi Sharks, the midfielder has vowed to inspire the Gusii-based club to a title for the new campaign.

Peter Okidi’s team finished fifth in the concluded campaign and will be targeting improved tidings in the new season.
