Shabana FC have confirmed that the team will leave for Uganda on Monday, August 25, 2025, to begin their pre-season preparations.

The Kisii-based side made the announcement in a statement shared on their official X account on Sunday evening August 24, 2025.

“Good evening Team, this is to formally notify you that our team will be departing tomorrow for Uganda to undertake our pre-season training program and friendly matches in preparation for the 2025/2026 football season,” read part of the statement.

The Glamour Boys, as the club is fondly known, are gearing up for what is expected to be one of their most important campaigns in recent history. After a strong fifth-place finish last season with 53 points, Shabana are now setting their sights on challenging for their maiden FKF Premier League title.

Inspired by Police success

The team’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. Just few years ago, they narrowly avoided relegation, finishing 14th on 38 points. But inspired by the success of Kenya Police FC, who lifted their first title in only their fourth season in the top flight, Shabana are determined to follow the same path.

Star forward Brian Michira has already spoken about the club’s ambition, insisting that the squad has the quality to fight for honours.

“The expectation is high, and we have made it clear that our goal next season is the title. If Police achieved it in under four seasons, then so can we,” he said earlier last month.

Head Coach Peter Okidi has expressed confidence in his squad, and he believes the preseason will help sharpen his players both physically and mentally ahead of the tough season ahead.

The club’s message on X also showed gratitude to their loyal supporters.

“We sincerely appreciate your unwavering support and encouragement as we take this important stride forward. God bless you all.”

The upcoming pre-season matches in Uganda will be crucial for the new-look Shabana side. They are expected to provide a platform to test fresh signings, build team chemistry, and work on tactics before the league kicks off.

With renewed energy, a strengthened squad, and clear ambitions, Shabana FC are heading into the 2025/26 season as serious contenders.
