Pre-season preparations

Obino’s arrival comes as Shabana continues its pre-season preparations, which began with a training trip to Uganda on August 25, 2025. The programme, comprising rigorous training and friendly matches, is aimed at sharpening the squad physically and tactically.

Last season, Shabana finished fifth with 53 points, and head coach Peter Okidi expressed confidence that the pre-season schedule would fine-tune the team for a challenging campaign.

The club has also bolstered its roster with the earlier signing of Biron ‘Ngolo’ Otieno from Kariobangi Sharks. Forward Brian Michira has voiced the squad’s ambition, stating, “The expectation is high, and we have made it clear that our goal next season is the title.” Inspired by Kenya Police FC’s maiden league triumph, Shabana is positioning itself as a serious contender for the crown.

Fan engagement

While excitement builds, the club has warned against counterfeit merchandise circulating in the market. On August 26, 2025, Shabana FC condemned the unauthorised production and sale of fake kits, calling it a threat to the club’s integrity and the local sports economy.

Fans are urged to purchase merchandise only from verified outlets, including Gusii Stadium and MAFRO Sports’ official platforms. Adding to the season’s momentum, Shabana have scheduled “Shabana Day” on September 7, 2025, at Gusii Stadium. The event will feature a friendly match against Tanzania’s Pamba Jiji FC, cultural performances, live music, and fan activities, aiming to celebrate the club’s legacy and raise funds for player welfare.

With a strengthened squad led by Obino and a packed pre-season programme, Shabana FC is preparing to make a major impact in the upcoming FKF Premier League season.
