Newly appointed AFC Leopards head coach, Thomas Trucha, has jetted into the country ahead of preparations for their upcoming FKF Premier League match against Bandari FC.

AFC Leopards made the announcement on their social media accounts and shared photos of Trucha alongside the club’s management, led by Chairman Dan Shikanda.

AFC Leopards welcome Trucha

In the statement, AFC Leopards welcomed back Thomas Trucha, confirming his return to the club as the head coach.

“Tommy is back and he’s in town. Welcome back to AFC Leopards SC Thomas Trucha,” the club stated.

This reappointment follows the departure of Tom Juma, who had been in charge of the team since his appointment in July. Juma’s exit was a result of a series of poor performances.

Trucha had a previous stint with AFC Leopards in 2020 during the 2020-2021 league season. Despite initially signing a two-year deal, he left the club after the season opener, which saw AFC Leopards secure a 2-1 victory at home against Tusker on November 28.

Trucha and his representative, Prince Channis, reportedly received physical threats from individuals claiming to be associated with the club, which led to their departure.

AFC Leopards-Trucha deal

AFC Leopards have once again entrusted Trucha with a two-year contract, and he is returning to lead the team in their efforts to improve their performance, especially after a challenging start to the season.

In addition to Thomas Trucha’s return, former club captain Bernard Mang’oli is making a comeback to AFC Leopards, this time in the role of team manager.

He will be taking over from Albert Wesonga, who has been promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer within the club.

The club has also appointed Haggai Azande as the new captain, and Joshua Caleb Osir will serve as the assistant physiotherapist.

These appointments were officially confirmed by AFC Leopards, with an immediate start date, and are contracted for a two-year period.
