KCB FC will be out to end their five-match winless run when they take on Shabana FC in a high-stakes Football Kenya Federation (FKF)-Premier League fixture set for this afternoon at the Dandora Stadium.

The Bankers who fell 1-0 to Talanta FC in their most recent outing at the same venue currently sit seventh on the table with 41 points.

Head coach Patrick Odhiambo is feeling the heat, with his side struggling to find rhythm in the second half of the season despite early optimism.

“We are not happy with our recent performances. This team should be fighting for trophies alongside other local giants. As we head into the crucial part of the season, we need to treat each game as a final,” Odhiambo told reporters, adding that Shabana has proven to be a “tough opponent” capable of punishing any lapses.

KCB came into the season with high hopes under Odhiambo, who replaced Bernard Mwalala, last season’s tactician who led them to a 10th place finish and an FKF Cup final appearance.

However, inconsistency has plagued their title ambitions, prompting urgent calls for improvement within the squad.

Captain Michael Mutinda is urging calm, saying the team remains united and ready to bounce back.

“We know what is expected of us and what we need to do. I urge our fans to remain calm because we will weather the storm. The boys are full of confidence and ready to face Shabana,” he said.
