Omalla brothers attracts praise for sportsmanship in FKF Cup final
By Luke Oluoch, June 30, 2025Nairobi United has acknowledged the rare sportsmanship displayed by the footballing siblings Duncan Omalla and Benson Omalla, who turn up for Gor Mahia FC.
The brothers’ clash dominated pre-match talk of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup final pitting Gor against Nicholas Muyoti’s team on Sunday, June 29, 2025, that ended in disappointment for the record 22-time league champions.
However, despite the setback, the Gor Mahia ace picked himself up to embrace his younger brother, Duncan, in a typical but rare show of sportsmanship.

“Omalas. A unique and powerful bond characterised by love and support,” the newly promoted FKF PL team posted a picture of the duo in an embrace.
Social media was abuzz with the images of the two players, ranking among the many football families keen to etch their name in the folklore of the country.
Whereas Omalla has had stints in and out of the Kenya senior national team, his younger brother has been making massive strides in building his budding profile as a professional footballer.

The youngster is a member of the national team youth side, having featured for the U18 teams so far.
Meanwhile, as the former Kisumu Day High School pair, wait to join the growing list of brothers who have played together in the Kenyan top league, the younger Omalla revealed, relishing the chance to play against his brother.
“I have look forward to playing with my brother, and it will finally be happening on Sunday,” the young Omalla told a local portal on the prospect of facing his brother in a past interview.
“We have played against a number of KPL sides and managed to win, and we got to the game with a single aim of winning the clash,” he stated.
The success continued Naibois’ recent run of form against the KPL sides. It was the culmination of a cup run that saw Nairobi United defeat four top-flight clubs, Tusker FC, KCB FC, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Mara Sugar. Each step, they grew bolder. Each match, more disciplined. Each win, more deserved.
