Harambee Stars and Al Duhail forward Michael Olunga is ready to face Cristiano Ronaldo during the AFC Champions League match on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Olunga is expected to lead his club’s attacking mission, while the Portuguese superstar will be depended on by the Saudi Arabian outfit, Al-Nssr, in search of goals.

Olunga rates Ronaldo

The Kenyan said it would be an honour to play Ronaldo, but their ultimate dream is to win the match.

“When you talk about Cristiano Ronaldo, you talk about one of the best players in the world, and for me, it is an honor to play on the same field with him, but our goal tomorrow is to win the match.

“Everyone is ready for it, and everyone respects the capabilities of Al-Nassr players, and we know that we have to work on ourselves in order to present a strong match in a collective manner,” Olunga told the press.

This is a game that Al Duhail, the Qatar Stars League champions, will not afford to lose if they have to remain in the continental competition.

“The match is of great importance to us, and we must come out with a positive result. In order to achieve this goal, we must respect our opponent and give our utmost effort on the field.

“Al-Nasr has a number of distinguished players who have succeeded in winning many titles in their professional careers, but we will face a complete system, and we will not face every player alone.

“Our motive for entering the match is to achieve a positive result that will help us continue our Asian journey,” Olunga acknowledged.

Ronaldo’s performance

Ronaldo has scored three goals in Al-Nassr’s last five games, in which they are unbeaten. Sadio Mane has also scored, but Brazil’s Talisca has been the most outstanding player in that period, having found the back of the net six times.

On the other hand, Al Duhail have been in good form on the domestic front but have struggled in the Champions League. From two games, they only have one point and have yet to find the back of the net, and this highlights a big challenge as they face Al Nassr, who have been solid at the back.
