After four games of pain and distress, Naivas FC finally posted a win result last Saturday following a 3-1 win over struggling Kajiado FC to keep pace with the leading pack as the National Super League entered Round 33.

Goals by Derrick Anami in the fifth minute and Duncan Wasuda in the 13th minute made for a good start for the retailers. The second half saw Brian Ouru add third one in the 75th minute for Naivas even with Kajiado pulling one consolation goal in the 81st minute. Kajiado in 18th place are staring right into the eyes of relegation following their fourth loss in five matches.

However, the third placed Retailers journey to at least make it to the FKF-Premier League playoffs might not be as rosy onwards. With 63 points in the bag, Naivas is tied with Nairobi United FC on points but the latter has a match in hand. Despite having a superior goal difference currently of +10, Naivas will be hoping their earlier days form hits back and pray to the gods of favor to ensure the nearest challengers drop points in the remaining five legs as the season comes to a close.

Meanwhile, league leaders Mara Sugar FC for the first time in seven matches, dropped points but maintained a firm grip on the table standings. At the weekend, the sugarmen under Benjamin Wandera drew 2-2 with hard fighting Gusii FC at Awendo Stadium in a thrilling encounter. Mara on 72 points, still have a vastly huge advantage with a current goal differential of +40.

Mara are keen to finish the campaign on a high and will certainly targeting further scaslps this season with 15 points still to play for.As for Gusii who are relegation bound with 24 points and in 19th place, their three year sojourn in the second tier could well and truly be over if nothing changes in the short term. The Kisii County based side has only nine wins in 33 matches with a poor goal difference of -20 currently.

Mathare United in second place with 68 points, also dropped two points at the weekend following a goalless tie with sixth placed Rainbow FC at Dandora Stadium Saturday. The slum-boys were just off two consecutive wins prior and therefore threw away the chances to bite at the gap on top of the log with Coach Francis Kimanzi’s experienced squad expected still to fight for the title since the fight is still not yet won.

Other benefactors at the weekend include Kisumu All-Stars in fifth place who won their second consecutive match following a comfortable 3-0 victory over visitors Mombasa Stars FC at Moi Stadium at the Lakeside City. Otenga as they are known have blown hot and cold this campaign and with seven points off the Playoffs placement,Charles Bruno’s men will need more than a miracle to hack it. As it stands, they are on 56 points off 33 matches with a goal difference of +18 to date.
