Africa Women’s 7s Cup

Meanwhile, Mvurya’s admiration for the national women’s sports teams is commendable, as the Cabinet Secretary has urged local rugby enthusiasts to turn up in their numbers to support the Kenya Lionesses as the nation hosts the Africa Women’s Sevens Cup on 14–15 November 2025 at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

Salim Mvurya has described the season as a historic moment, as Kenya welcomes the world-class tournament 11 years after the country last hosted it.

”This is not just a competition; it is a celebration of our rising strength in women’s rugby and our place on the continental stage. We are proud to welcome 12 participating national teams from across Africa who will begin arriving in Nairobi from next week,” Mvurya took to X on November 5, 2025.

”I have reaffirmed to the Kenya Rugby Union, led by Chairperson Harriet Okach, the Government’s steadfast support in ensuring a successful tournament, from technical preparations and talent exposure to hosting excellence befitting a global sporting event,” CS Salim Mvurya added.

”Kenyans, let us turn up in our numbers, fill the RFUEA Grounds, and give our Lionesses the loudest cheer. I am confident they will deliver a spirited, outstanding performance and make our country proud.”
