Murang’a Seal fight back to earn draw against Shabana
Murang’a Seal and Shabana FC played out a 1-1 draw in the FKF Premier League at the SportPesa Arena on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Both sides showed fighting spirit in an entertaining encounter, but neither could claim all three points.
Shabana started the match with intensity and shocked the home crowd in the third minute. Wycliffe Awiko reacted quickest inside the box and fired past the goalkeeper to give the visitors an early lead. The goal settled Shabana, who continued to threaten on the break. Austine Musa Odongo twice came close to doubling the advantage, forcing saves in the 19th and 28th minutes.
Despite the early setback, Murang’a Seal grew into the game. By the half-hour mark, they were controlling possession and pushing Shabana back. The hosts pressed high and moved the ball with confidence, with Osama Haki linking well with Kiplangat in attack.
Their pressure eventually paid off in the 38th minute. Tony Musa delivered a precise cross, and Kiplangat rose above the defence to head in the equaliser. The goal lifted the home side and swung momentum in their favour.

Before the game, both teams arrived with contrasting form. Murang’a Seal had drawn their previous match against AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium, stabilising their campaign after a period of inconsistent results. Shabana, on the other hand, were coming off a 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars, courtesy of Mark Okola’s decisive strike.
Statistically, the teams are evenly matched. Murang’a Seal had scored nine goals and conceded 11 in nine matches, while Shabana had also scored nine but conceded eight in eight games. Both sides are capable of scoring but have shown defensive vulnerabilities this season, making the derby an open contest.
League table tightens up
This draw leaves Murang’a Seal in 15th place on the league table with 10 points from 10 matches. Shabana sit in eighth position with 12 points from nine matches. Despite being in the lower half of the table, Murang’a Seal remain competitive and are looking to improve their league standing. Shabana aim to climb higher and stay in touch with the top teams.

The draw keeps AFC Leopards in third place with 14 points from nine matches, while Sharks remain in 17th with seven points, continuing their fight against relegation. Kakamega Homeboyz remained in second place after a 2-0 win over Posta Rangers, strengthening their push near the top of the table.
