Morocco clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Madagascar in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) final at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, securing a historic third title for the Atlas Lions.

The match was a pulsating affair from the first whistle. Madagascar, playing in their first-ever CHAN final, stunned fans when Félicité Mantasoa fired the Barea ahead early in the game. The opening goal silenced the stadium, as the island nation showed no fear against the two-time champions.

Morocco quickly responded with determination. Youssef Mehri equalised in the 27th minute, and just before half-time, Oussama Lamlaoui struck to put the Atlas Lions ahead 2-1. The crowd erupted as Morocco took control of the game, demonstrating why they were tournament favourites.

Madagascar refused to bow under the pressure. In the 68th minute, Toky Rakotondraibe restored parity, sending the game to 2-2 and keeping alive hopes of an unforgettable upset. Both teams pressed hard, with end-to-end action keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
