Gor Mahia coach Sinisa Mihic has rallied his charges for a bruising battle as the Football Kenya Federation Premier League enters the decisive phase, starting with their match week 27 game.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Sofapaka this Saturday, April 19, 2025, the Croat underscored the importance of the remaining league engagements, stating that they will be approached with the seriousness they deserve.

“We are heading towards the conclusion of the season, and we remain focused. We will need to be at our best in terms of concentration and discipline ahead of what is like ten finals in the league and the Cup. Every game now is like the final of the Champions League, and we have to give them the seriousness they deserve. We have a plan, which is to win our games,” he said.

For the better part of the current campaign, Gor Mahia’s inconsistent results have seen the side blow hot and cold, with their quest for title defense appearing more of a journey of a thousand miles.

The journey is likely to start with the first step coming in the shape of Saturday’s challenge against former league champions, Sofapaka.

“It is an important match; every game is important. We are professionals, and we have to give our best in every game,” Mihic said in response to the Saturday tie.

The coach’s sentiments mirror those made by skipper Philemon Otieno.

Otieno, who spoke to the club portal ahead of the clash, termed the match against Sofapaka as a must-win for the reigning Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions.

“The mood is good; we are pushing hard for the game against Sofapaka over the weekend. We are going for maximum points as the league is taking shape, and we need to work hard and ensure we win,” Otieno said.

The defender further urged their fans to turn up for the clash and cheer the team on.

“At Gor, we are also under pressure because of the demands to win every game, so I want to urge them to turn up in large numbers and give us the support we need,” he said.
