Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has sent a passionate message of support to the national football team as they gear up for their crucial CHAN 2024 group game against the Democratic Republic of Congo at Kasarani Stadium.

In a heartfelt video message on August 2, 2025, Olunga, who recently joined former Qatari champions Al-Arabi, encouraged his teammates to remain focused and determined ahead of the high-stakes match.

“I take this opportunity to wish you success in the upcoming CHAN 2024. I know you guys are well prepared and motivated, starting from the players to the technical bench. And I know you are ready to achieve, and we are fully behind you,” he stated.

Furthermore, he emphasised that although he may not be physically present, his spirit is with the team.

Supporting you from a distance. Go make it count; let’s go to Kenya,” he stated.

Tickets

The tickets for Kenya’s opening match, set for Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 3:00 pm, were sold out six days before the match.

The sell-out came days after the Local Organising Committee (LOC) chair, Nicholas Musonye, stated that there would be no ticket sales on match days during the competition, a move that was put in place to enhance crowd control and overall match security during matches.

The quick selling out of the matches is a statement of just how highly the tournament is being anticipated by fans around the country and the continent alike.

The tickets were retailing at Ksh200 per person for the regular, with VIP tickets going for Ksh500 and Ksh1000 for the VVIP tickets.

CS Mvurya had earlier urged football fans around the continent to turn up in large numbers to support their teams, assuring them of their safety.

At the same time, CAF Secretary General Veron Mosengo had also urged Kenyans to embrace the Pamoja spirit and turn up for their country to set a good example as the hosts as part of their bid to host AFCON 2027.

Kasarani Stadium will be hosting all of Kenya’s group games, with Nyayo Stadium to be used as an alternative.

Kenya’s next game will be against Angola, with tickets going on sale from July 29, 2025, at 0000 hrs.
