Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has shared their ultimate goal as the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title race picks up speed.

Gor Mahia, at the top of the table after 17 games, are on course to defend their title, and McKinstry has said their current aim is to bag many trophies.

“If our streak ends tomorrow, we’ll be disappointed, but we’ll also recognize it as a remarkable achievement. Our ultimate goal, however, remains unchanged: to win as many trophies as possible.

“Our focus is on accumulating more points and extending our lead. At the end of the season, it’s all about the trophies, and we’re on a good path to achieving that.

“We’re on the right track, and our aim is to keep extending our lead,” the former Rwanda and Uganda national team head coach told the media.

In their last game, K’Ogalo managed a win over Posta Rangers, who had been very impressive in the opening 10 games. Teams always put up brave fights against the reigning champions, and McKinstry explains why.

“It makes every game more difficult because teams don’t need extra motivation to up their game against Gor Mahia. They treat each match like a cup final, aiming to make a significant impact by defeating us.

“This long run just adds to the difficulty of each game. But the rarity of such a streak is what makes it special.

“Every opponent sees us as a major scalp. It’s like a Cup final for them every time they face us. This only adds pressure, but we thrive under it. It’s a testament to our team’s resilience that we’ve kept this unbeaten streak for over six months,” the Premier League winner concluded.

Gor Mahia will face Kariobangi Sharks in their next game.
