Mathare United signs goalkeeper Daniel Odiwuor from Bidco United
FKF Premier League side Mathare United have bolstered their goalkeeping department with the acquisition of Daniel “Ceedo” Odiwuor on a one-year deal ahead of the 2025/26 season.
In a club statement seen by the People Daily on Monday, September 1, 2025, the 6ft 1in shot-stopper joins the Slum Boys from Bidco United, becoming their fourth signing of the transfer window and the second goalkeeper addition after the earlier arrival of Kevin Ouru.
The club is pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Daniel Odiwuor ahead of the 2025/26 footballing season. The shotstopper pens a one-year deal and joins from Bidco United. Ceedo, as he is affectionately referred to by his peers, becomes our fourth signing of the current window,” Mathare United said.
Odiwuor, a product of Migori Boys, is not new to the Premier League stage, having previously turned out for KCB FC, where he shared a dressing room with Mohammed Kilume, Brian Ochieng, and veteran goalkeeper David Okello, who is now serving as Mathare’s goalkeeping coach.
His reunion with Okello adds an extra layer of familiarity as he integrates into coach John Kamau’s squad, which has been actively reshaping ahead of the new campaign. Notably, Odiwuor becomes Mathare’s second signing this off-season from Bidco United, underlining the club’s strong scouting link with the Thika-based side.
”The club expressed excitement at the arrival of the custodian, with a warm message in Dholuo, “Waruaki gi chuny maber, Ceedo” (Welcome with a good heart, Ceedo).
Kevin Ouru joins Mathare United
Last week, Mathare United also confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Kevin Ouru from Kariobangi Sharks.
”Mathare United is pleased to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Kevin Ouru on a one-year deal. The shotstopper joins from Posta Rangers, for whom he played an integral part in their survival last season,” the club said in a statement.
Ouru’s move to Mathare United becomes his third stop in his professional career. He joined Kariobangi Sharks immediately after clearing his O-Levels at Kakamega High School and played four seasons before his switch to Rangers last year.
The former Green Commandos player made the second-most appearances between the sticks for the Mailmen last season and kept four clean sheets, the most important of which came in a 2-0 victory over Naivas that set them on their way to winning a two-legged relegation/promotion playoff.
As the 2008 Kenyan Premier League winners continue their preparations for the 2025/26 FKF Premier League, Odiwuor’s signing is expected to inject depth, competition, and experience between the posts as the Slum Boys look to improve on last season’s performance.
