Malkia Strikers, Kenya’s national female volleyball team, received a heartfelt flagging off at the Nyayo Stadium, on Saturday afternoon, as they embarked on their journey to Paris.

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K), led by Principal Secretary Peter K. Tum, showed their unwavering support for the team, pledging assistance through the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF).

The event was attended by NOC-K officials, KVF representatives, and other sports dignitaries.

NOC-K President Tergat expressed his delight at witnessing the team’s departure, acknowledging the challenges they had faced, particularly with travel logistics.

He encouraged the players to put those troubles behind them and focus on their upcoming tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and the Challenger Cup in France.

“Your journey to this moment I am aware has been filled with challenges, especially travel logistics but all is well that ends well. I say this because you now need to put all the troubles behind you and go and do what you have always done best- play and win big. Ahead of you are very key points to fight for and earn at the various stops in Africa and Europe such as the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and Challenger Cup in France,” he said.

Shadrack Maluki, NOC-K 1st Deputy President, emphasized the importance of securing a continental slot for the Olympic Games next year, seeing it as a fitting tribute and legacy for former President Kioni.
NOC-K has been a steadfast supporter of Malkia Strikers, providing financial assistance amounting to Sh5.4 million to aid their qualification efforts.
