Malkia Strikers final squad for FIVB Challenger Cup, Africa Nations Cup announced
Kenya’s national women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, have unveiled their final 14-player squad that will represent the country in the upcoming FIVB Challenger Cup in France and the Africa Nations Cup in Cameroon.
The squad was revealed by high-performance coaches, Louizomar de Moura, Paul Bitok, and Jefferson, after an intense three-week training camp in Morocco.
Malkia Strikers duo miss out
Gladies Ekaru and Yvonne Wavinya did not make it to the travelling squad. With Ekaru absent, Agripina Kundu is the only Libero in the squad.
Sharon Chumba, Mercy Moim, and Trizah Atuka are some of the regulars who have made the final squad.
The team is scheduled to depart for Laval, France, on Tuesday at 2:00 PM, fully prepared to represent Kenya in both the FIVB Challenger Cup and the subsequent Africa Nations Cup in Cameroon.
They are chasing for qualification ticket to the 2024 Olympics in Paris and claim the prestigious African title in Cameroon.
In the FIVB Challenger Cup, Malkia Strikers face a crucial quarter-final match against Colombia on 28th July 2023.
The other participating teams in the tournament include Mexico, Vietnam, France, and Colombia. Before the quarter-final encounter, the team will also engage in an important international friendly against Mexico.
