Josphat Lopaga eyeing better new season at Brest after impressive debut in 2023
Former AFC Leopards striker Josphat Lopaga is optimistic about Dinamo Brest‘s prospects for the upcoming season, aiming for improved performances.
Dinamo Brest concluded the season in 10th place, securing 30 points with nine wins, three draws, and 16 losses.
Lopaga reflection
Lopaga, reflecting on the season’s end, insisted that it was time to break recharge and prepare for the challenges of 2024.
“The season is over; we’ll go on vacation. At least, we’ll clear our heads, and maybe we’ll come back in the next season in a stronger form to show better results than this year,” Lopaga shared with the club’s official website.
In the final game of the season, Lopaga bagged a brace in their 3-2 victory over Belshina in the Belarusian league, despite challenging snow conditions.
“Today’s game turned out well. I think our team was very well-organized, except for some mistakes caused by the field and the weather. It’s my first time playing football in winter. It’s cool that we won at the end of the season. It’s a good result for us,” he commented.
Lopaga’s love
Reflecting on his initial months at Dynamo Brest, Lopaga expressed his satisfaction with the warm reception he received from the club, including fans, the coach, and fellow players.
“I’m happy for myself, the team, and the fans. This is my first season at Dynamo Brest, where everyone has accepted me very well. Everyone loves me: the fans, the coach, and the other players. I appreciate it a lot,” he acknowledged.
Throughout his first half-season at the club, Lopaga featured in 12 games, scoring four goals in 637 minutes of play.
Originating from the town of Baragoi, Lopaga’s early life as a street kid took a positive turn through the City Stadium Homeless Youth Rehabilitation program.
His journey in football included time with the Shy Football Academy, Gor Mahia youth team, Mount Kenya United, Posta Rangers, and eventually AFC Leopards.
Lopaga also represented Kenya’s Under-23 team in the CECAFA Championship.
