FKF Cup: AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia learn opponents
Premier League clubs have learned their opponents in the round of 32 of the 2024 Football Kenya Federation Cup.
Defending champions Kakamega Homeboyz have been paired against Solian City. Homeboyz would be eager to defend the trophy and consequently secure a continental slot, just like last season.
Meanwhile, Bandari, who will first play Bungoma Stars, will have to face a winner between Vegpro and Kenya Police should they progress to the round of 32.
Sofapaka, under a new coach, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, whose struggle in the Premier League has persisted, will face the National Super League side Silibwet FC.
Shabana are set to face Shalimar FC, while Bidco United have been pooled against Karatina Homeboyz.
Gor Mahia, the only unbeaten side so far in the top flight, will play against Denmak, while AFC Leopards will tackle PAC University.
This is a chance for Gor Mahia to lift a double this season, given that they have shown the ability and hunger to defending the Premier League title.
For Leopards, the FKF Cup is the only realistic chance of ending the season with a trophy. As they struggle in the Premier League, their focus is arguably on the cup, given that a successful campaign will see them grab a ticket back to the CAF Confederation Cup.
