The Kenya Volleyball Federation reigning champions, KCB Volleyball Club, have clinched the third-place spot of the 2025 KVF Finals following a 3-1 set win over rivals Kenya Prisons Queens on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

The bankers silenced the wardens’ team by outclassing them in a four-set thriller staged at the Kasarani Indoor Arena to claim the third-place playoff tie.

Japheth Munala’s charges, who failed to live up to their title defense, mounted a spirited fightback in the decisive play-off tie after losing the first set on a 25-27 score line.

Their response was quick and in style, taking Set 2 with a convincing 25-14 to level matters.

The defending champions proved dominance in the subsequent two sets, clinching the ties on 25-20 and 25-13 to secure a podium place finish in the current campaign.

In a statement shared by the club after the game, the club conveyed its gratitude to its fans and players for their invaluable support throughout the journey.

“It wasn’t the gold we came for but it’s a bronze earned with determination, sweat, and heart. And sometimes, it’s the bounce-back stories that define a team’s legacy. This one’s for every fan, every teammate, and every dreamer who believes in the power of never giving up. Congratulations Ladies.” a statement from the club media page read after the feat.

KCB’s quest to defend their title was snapped by Kenya Pipeline on Saturday, May 24, 2025, after losing the second of the best of three sets in Mombasa.

Pipeline had outshone defending champions KCB with a 3-1 victory in Game 1 of the semifinals play-off tie on Friday, May 23, 2025.
