Kitale National Polytechnic gets nod to host youth Chess finals
Kitale National Polytechnic will host the 2025 Kenya National Youth and Cadets Chess Championship from August 1-5, it has now been confirmed by Chess Kenya.
Via a press statement, the chess national governing body emphasised that it was in the spirit of promoting national awareness and chess development that Trans Nzoia County was selected to host this event.
“Following a thorough inspection of several potential venues, Kitale National Polytechnic was selected as the most suitable location to host this prestigious event. The institution offers ample space, modern facilities, and a secure environment, making it well-equipped to accommodate the large number of participants expected from across the country,” the statement read in part.
Chess Kenya also added that the institution’s administration has expressed strong support for co-curricular activities, including chess, aligning perfectly with the goals of the federation, hence their acceptability.
Earlier, the federation had inquired about the availability of St Joseph Boys High School and St Joseph Girls High School in Kitale pending some logistical approvals, before finally making their soft landing at Kitale National Polytechnic.
With now less than a month to go, all eyes and focus shift to local clubs and schools as they rush to beat the registration deadline, in anticipation of this great event that will also be used to select a national team for future international assignments.
