Kingi calls on Harambee Stars to extend CHAN winning streak against Zambia

Senate Speaker Amason Jeffah Kingi has rallied behind Harambee Stars ahead of their crucial Group A clash against Zambia in the CHAN tournament, urging the national team to maintain their impressive run of form.

In a statement posted on his Facebook account on Sunday, August 17, 2025, Kingi expressed unwavering confidence in the team’s ability to deliver another strong performance.

The Senate speaker called on Kenyans to stand firmly behind them as they aim to continue their fine form.

“Match Day is here, and we are rallying behind our own Harambee Stars to the last Kenyan! The streak of excellence continues in today’s game against Zambia. Go for it, boys!” the Speaker wrote.

Support for Harambee Stars

Kingi’s statement joins the list of various leaders who have sent their support to Harambee Stars ahead of their 3 pm CHAN clash against Zambia.

In a brief but supportive statement posted on his X account on Sunday, August 17, 2025, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Vice President McDonald Mariga voiced confidence in the national team’s abilities as they aim to enhance their campaign in the tournament.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Hussein Mohammed has also sent a heartfelt message to the national team, encouraging them ahead of the test.

“Best of luck to Harambee Stars in their final group game. The dream lives on,” Mohammed wrote.

Ready for the game

Speaking on Saturday, August 16, 2025, Harambee Stars midfielder Austin Odhiambo, who is Kenya’s top scorer with a couple of goals from the opening two games, emphasised that a victory against Zambia would greatly boost their confidence as they approach the knockout stages of the competition.

“We are ready for the game. We know the importance of the match, as we want to proceed to the next stage by finishing top of our group as the winners. So we are doing all to ensure we win the game,” he stated.

Odhiambo also praised the vital support from Kenyan fans, who have shown up in large numbers, noting that the nation’s unity during this significant football event has helped propel the national team to impressive results.

“As a player, I have known the importance of fans. They truly mean a lot to football, and they are an integral part of the game. I feel for the first time the whole country has come together, making it easier for us to get the results on the pitch,” he added.
