Kenya’s Lionesses team for Poland series named

Kenya Lionesses coach Dennis Mwanja has named his team for duty for the Rugby Seven Challengers series in Krakow, Poland.
The Lady’s rugby side shifts gear to the third leg series in Poland, slated for Friday, April 11, 2025, to Saturday.
Mwanja has retained her usual starting squad, with Grace Okulu, the skipper, leading the 12-member team.
Okulu will do this with the help of the team’s mainstays, Freshia Oduor, Judith Okumu and Sharon Auma.
Unbeaten streak
The Lionesses head into the decisive phase with heads held high after an unbeaten streak in the two-challengers series in South Africa.
Kenya decisively won both the challenger series. The side claimed the first championship of the Cape Town Seven Challenger after edging Argentina 17- 12 in the finals on Sunday, March 3, 2025.
They replicated the impressive showing in the second finals, beating South Africa to complete an unbeaten run in the first two legs.
In the Krakow series, Kenya has been drawn into Pool A, where they will face Belgium, Colombia, and Thailand.
Play-offs spot
Krakow showdown will be the third and final round of the series, with four teams looking to secure playoff berths in America.
The top four teams from this decisive leg will advance to the playoffs in Los Angeles, where they will battle for a dream spot in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
Speaking ahead of the test, Mwanja encouraged the girls to rise to the occasion and get the job done.
Finishing the job
“We have worked hard to be in this position, and now it’s about finishing the job. The players understand what’s at stake, and we are ready to give our all,” Mwanja told KRU.
