Kenya’s Jepkosgei wins thrilling London women’s marathon on debut

Kenyan Joyciline Jepkosgei won a thrilling London Marathon today in two hours, 17.43 minutes.

World record holder and defending champion Brigid Kosgei would fade away in the race to finish just outside the podium finish.

Jepkosgei finished seconds ahead of Ethiopian Degitu Azimeraw, while Ashete Bekere came in third.

On the other hand Ethiopia’s Sisay Lemma scooped the men’s London Marathon after breaking away from the leading pack to win in a time of two hours four minutes and one second.

Lemma crossed the line with 27 seconds ahead of Kenya’s Vincent Kipchuma with Mosinet Geremew comimg in third with defending champion Shura Kitata comimg in sixth.
